On almond stockpiles and silage, the white side faces up and the black side faces down. The white surface reflects sunlight and lowers heat and condensation under the tarp, which helps protect your product through storage. Growers using tarps for weed control run them black side up instead.

Yes. Plainstar’s LLDPE stockpile tarps are rated for fumigation use. Fumigation tarps are made from gas-impermeable polyethylene so the fumigant stays sealed under the cover, and the edges are held down with soil during treatment. Call us for the right film and size for your fumigation program.

Plainstar’s LLDPE tarps are UV treated with 18-month UV resistance, built to hold up through extended stockpile and feed storage. Actual life depends on sun exposure and handling. Folding tarps and storing them dry and out of direct sun between uses helps them last as long as possible.

Silage bags store feed in a sealed tube and need the least infrastructure, which makes them a good fit for smaller operations or batch storage. Bunker and silage covers are heavy plastic sheets that seal feed down in a drive-over or walled bunker, giving dairies more storage volume in the same footprint. Plainstar carries both.

Plainstar tarps are LLDPE, or linear low-density polyethylene, a flexible, puncture-resistant plastic film that is UV treated for outdoor use. They are available in black/white and clear, and are built to stand up to sun, weather, and repeated handling in the field.
